The Power Session

The Power Session

A 45-minute private session for education, advocacy, acceptance, and resilience with a US-trained rheumatologist who's lived your fight from the inside.

Education, advocacy, acceptance, and resilience. Not a substitute for your medical care.

The Power Session is private, 1:1, and built for people who refuse to accept "this is just how it is."

About Ann Igoe

About Ann Igoe

I was born in Dublin, Ireland, and diagnosed there with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at age 10. There were no real treatments then. The disease took my childhood, and for years, I lived inside the shame of a diagnosis I had not yet learned how to carry.

That experience sent me into medicine, not away from it. Medical school in Hungary. Research at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. US training in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Adult Rheumatology. I am now a board-certified rheumatologist practicing in the United States.

I understand this disease from both sides of the exam room: as the patient who took decades to learn how to truly advocate for herself, and as the physician who now gives others what no one gave me. That perspective is the entire reason this session exists.

Who the Power Session is for

Who the Power Session is for

  • Adults living with a chronic illness, including autoimmune, rheumatologic, or other complex internal medicine conditions, who want to understand it the way a physician understands it: the pathogenesis of their condition, how their medications actually work, and why understanding what is happening in their own body increases both compliance and the will to care for themselves.
  • International clients who want physician-level education about their disease from a US-trained doctor, so they can better understand it and engage more effectively with their own treating physicians at home.
  • Parents of a newly diagnosed child who need a clear-eyed conversation with someone who has been that child.
  • People newly diagnosed who are trying to figure out how to live alongside an illness they did not choose.
  • Professionals navigating a chronic illness while trying to build or sustain a career, and who need someone who has done it to talk about how.
  • People who want practical resilience built from lived experience, not borrowed from motivational books.
  • People who are done being passive in their own care.
Who the Power Session is not for

Who the Power Session is not for

  • You are looking for a quick fix, or a second opinion on a specific medication.
  • You are not ready to engage in the personal work of understanding and accepting your condition.
  • You are unwilling to invest in your own education and advocacy.
What you leave with

What you leave with

In 45 minutes, on a private live video call, we cover four things woven together. Your priorities tell me which of these four matters most for you, and we shape the session around that. Every client gets all four named, but the depth follows your priorities.

01

Your condition, explained at a physician level.

Most physicians explain disease as if you already have a medical background. There's a translation gap, and in a typical appointment, there is no time to close it. In our session, I close it. The pathogenesis of your condition, how your medications actually work, and what your labs mean, explained the way I would explain it to a colleague, adapted so you actually understand it.

Medical education only. Not clinical advice for your specific case. Your treating physician remains the only person who can apply this information to you.

02

How to advocate for yourself with your own doctors.

We work on the skill of self-advocacy: how to prepare for an appointment, how to communicate your symptoms in a way physicians actually hear, how to ask questions that get real answers, and how to recognize when you need to seek another opinion.

This is advocacy skill, not medical advice for your specific case.

03

The acceptance work most people skip.

The hardest part of a chronic diagnosis is rarely the diagnosis itself. It is the quiet, private work of accepting that this is now part of your life without letting it become the whole of your life.

04

A resilience framework drawn from lived experience.

Not motivational. Practical. How to hold onto your career, your relationships, and your sense of self while a chronic illness tries to take pieces of all three.

You leave with clarity, a framework you can carry into every appointment, a more honest relationship with your diagnosis, and a way of thinking about your illness that you did not have an hour earlier.

Client reflections

What clients carry forward

These reflections are anonymized and reworded from prior client reviews to protect privacy. They focus only on clarity, self-advocacy, acceptance, and resilience. Individual experiences vary.

Understand

“For the first time, my condition was explained in language I could actually follow. Afterwards I had a good understanding of what’s happening in my own body instead of nodding along to words I didn’t know—and that changed how in control I feel.”

ATAnonymized client
Advocate

“Previously I was unsure whether I’d said the right things or been heard at all. Now I feel I have the tools. This gave me the words, the questions, and the confidence to be prepared and make sure my concerns actually land. I now know the questions to ask and why.”

NSAnonymized client
Accept

“I felt stuck and was tired of feeling stuck. I didn’t expect that dissecting the problem would give me so much clarity. Now I feel like I live alongside my issues instead of under them. It’s hard to explain how much that changed things for me in a positive way.”

DLAnonymized client
Carry forward

“I was so overwhelmed and left with a way of thinking that I didn’t have beforehand—practical, honest, and mine to bring forward as part of my life.”

Important to know

Important to know

The Power Session is medical education, patient advocacy coaching, and resilience coaching. It is not the practice of medicine, and it does not create a physician-patient relationship between Dr. Igoe and the client.

In this session, Dr. Igoe does not:

  • Diagnose any medical condition
  • Order, interpret, or recommend specific labs, imaging, or other diagnostic testing for the client's individual case
  • Prescribe, adjust, or recommend specific changes to medications
  • Provide treatment or treatment recommendations for the client's specific medical condition
  • Replace, override, or substitute for care from the client's own treating physicians

What Dr. Igoe does provide is general medical education about disease processes, advocacy skills for working effectively with treating physicians, and a framework for acceptance and resilience drawn from her own lived experience and clinical training.

The Power Session is not emergency care, urgent care, or crisis support. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department.

The personal work of a Power Session, understanding, acceptance, and resilience, belongs to you. Any clinical questions that arise belong in conversation with your treating doctors. They are your medical team. The Power Session is not.

By booking a Power Session, the client acknowledges that they have read and understood this disclosure.

Common questions

Chronic illness education & patient advocacy FAQs

Clear answers about what the Power Session offers, who it is for, and how it works alongside your own medical care.

What is patient advocacy coaching for chronic illness?

It is practical coaching that helps you prepare for appointments, describe symptoms clearly, ask focused questions, and participate more confidently in conversations with your treating doctors. In the Power Session, this is education and coaching—not medical care.

How can I prepare for a rheumatology appointment?

The Power Session can help you organize your priorities, communicate symptoms clearly, and prepare focused questions for your treating rheumatologist. Dr. Igoe does not diagnose, interpret your individual tests, or recommend treatment.

Can the Power Session help me understand an autoimmune or rheumatologic diagnosis?

Yes. Dr. Igoe can provide general physician-level education about disease processes, medications, and common medical language. Only your treating physicians can interpret that information for your individual case.

Is this medical care?

No. It is education, advocacy coaching, and resilience coaching only.

Can Dr. Igoe tell me what treatment to choose?

No. Treatment decisions belong with your treating physicians.

What happens during a 45-minute Power Session?

The private live video session combines four areas: general medical education, self-advocacy skills, acceptance work, and a practical resilience framework. Your priorities help shape which area receives the most attention.

Who is the Power Session for?

It is designed for adults living with chronic or complex illness, people newly diagnosed, professionals managing illness alongside a career, parents of a newly diagnosed child, and international clients seeking clearer education and advocacy skills.

Can parents of a newly diagnosed child book?

Yes. Parents may book education and advocacy coaching. The session does not replace the child's treating physicians or provide diagnosis or treatment recommendations.

Can international clients book?

Yes. The session is structured for international clients and time-zone-aware scheduling.
